Different factors you need to consider
1. Corrosion resistance
Understanding the topic of corrosion resistance is crucial when purchasing stainless steel products. The most commonly used standard grade for food grade applications is austenitic stainless steel. Due to its chemical properties, austenitic stainless steel exhibits extremely strong resistance to basic corrosive environments containing only salt and water. Specifically, our 304 rating (including but not limited to) includes 18/22, 20/30, 15/25, and 10/15. Use the appropriate level according to your installation environment; Atmospheric conditions such as air quality, moisture content, and acidity levels can greatly increase the corrosion rate of products.
2. Heat resistance
More and more customers are choosing stainless steel coils because they can be used anywhere without worrying about corrosion. Temperature is a factor to consider when purchasing stainless steel products. High temperature, such as in the furnace environment of (900-1175C), will increase the corrosion of stainless steel products. In addition, high temperature will apply high pressure to the product. Therefore, if the temperature remains high, you will have to purchase heat-resistant stainless steel such as 253MA and 321MA.
3. Low temperature resistance
Austenitic stainless steel has higher efficiency at low temperatures. Compared to ambient temperature, they can maintain higher tensile strength at low temperatures. Regardless of degradation and toughness, this steel is suitable for low temperatures. Low temperature resistance refers to the ability of a material to withstand a temperature drop after being exposed to increased pressure. You must check the low temperature resistance to know which one is more suitable for you.
4. Magnetic response
Austenitic and ferritic stainless steels typically have lower magnetic properties, while chromium based stainless steels have more active magnetic properties. You must check the magnetic response of each type of stainless steel; The strength of austenitic stainless steel is not as good as that of carbonitride and grades 310, 316, and 430 steel, so these stainless steels often show little impact. Martensitic stainless steels with high magnetic content, such as 310, 320, 330, 410, and 416, do not have magnetism, but can be made into hardware through post hardening processes such as nitriding, and have deep low-temperature tempering to achieve these characteristics. Dual phase stainless steels such as 2205 and 2201 exhibit ferromagnetism, while other stainless steels such as 400CN and 452CBM exhibit paramagnetism.
5. Cost
Cost is one of the most important factors when purchasing stainless steel coils. High priced stainless steel is worth it because it can run for longer periods of time. Therefore, you need to assess costs based on the lifecycle. Different 201 stainless steel coils are sold at different costs.
6. Required strength
Understanding the steel strength you require can be quite complex. The strength requirements depend on the installation environment and installation purpose. In some cases, high-strength duplex stainless steel and austenitic stainless steel are suitable. But in some cases, these may be the most inappropriate because they cannot meet your requirements. So you must check the intensity required for your work.
7. Common Manufacturers
Stainless steel coils can be obtained from multiple manufacturers worldwide. Foshan Wutai Steel Co., Ltd. is a professional manufacturer established in 2001, with over 20 years of experience in manufacturing stainless steel, carbon steel, and galvanized steel. We also offer stainless steel coils from the following brands, including TISCO, Zhonggang, Baosteel, Pohang, Liangang, Yulin, Angang, Qinggang, Jiugang, Huaxia, Chengde, Yongjin, Qingshan, Shouyang, Huawei, etc.
The different types you need to consider
301 stainless steel
301 steel has good ductility and is commonly used for forming products. It hardens quickly during processing and has better wear resistance and fatigue strength than 304 steel.
302 stainless steel
Its corrosion resistance is the same as 304, but due to the addition of carbon, its strength is slightly higher.
303 stainless steel
By adding sulfur and phosphorus elements, 303 stainless steel is easier to process than 304 steel. ISO 3506 names it "A1"
304 stainless steel
304 stainless steel is the most common 18/8 stainless steel. It is also known as "A2" in ISO3506.
316 stainless steel
316/316L sheet has excellent mechanical properties and good corrosion resistance at sub zero temperatures, making it an excellent choice for marine applications.
